- Local Area Network - or usually known as LAN, is a small network of computers in a limited area. One example of LAN is a network of computers in a building.
- Metropolitan Area Network - or MAN is just like LAN. The only difference is that MAN is employed in a bigger scale like metropolitan areas or states.
- Wide Area Network - or WAN is a much bigger network compared to MAN and is used to cover larger geographic areas.
- Wireless LANs and WANs - are just like WAN and LAN and the only real difference is that they are wireless.
In computer networking, there are lots of ways to interconnect computer systems like using coaxial cables, optical fibers, and even through power lines. But as technology advances there are better ways to do this like wireless technology which includes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
